What is an Umbrella Company?
An umbrella company will be your employer, employing you under an overarching employment contract. An overarching contract of employment links together a series of separate assignments so that each location of each assignment becomes a temporary workplace. Working under such a contract, you effectively become a permanent employee of the umbrella company. The Umbrella company will invoice your agency, or end client if you are working for them directly, for the services you have offered and on receipt of payment will deduct all necessary taxes before transferring funds into your account.
